The company was formed in 1995 following a managerial buy-out of the existing ADS-Anker operation based on York Road, Belfast.
Our new premises (including Product Showroom) are conveniently based in the North City Business Centre, close to where the M2 meets the Westlink.
We aim to provide the complete solution to all your EPoS needs. Our Product Range is consistently growing as our customers requirements change. We generally supply Complete EPoS Systems comprising of Touch Screens, Cash Registers, POS Printers and Barcode Scanners, but we also provide Consumables and Peripherals to ensure that your business continues to run as smoothly and as efficiently as possible.
Anchor Data Systems are the sole NI distributors of the market-leading Bleep Computing Software and also world-renowned Anker Cash Drawers and Cassettes (as used by Lidl, Aldi, Supervalu, and other leading international supermarket chains).
Our staff have a vast wealth of experience in the industry, over 75 years worth in fact! We continue to lead the way particularly in the local market, but more recently we have expanded our operations further afield into the Irish and UK marketplace. Over the past few years we have supplied various goods to customers as far away as Slovenia, France, Aruba and California – a testament if nothing else to our unique and varied product range!
Customer feedback shows that our Product Range and level of aftercare service are second to none and undoubtedly this has led to our continued growth. We are one of only a few EPoS suppliers that offer a complete On-Site Repair/Support Service, a necessity in today’s demanding business environment.
Our client base ranges from Councils, Restaurants, and Retail Outlets to Bookmakers, Newsagents and Beauty Salons. From the largest to the smallest venue, we have it covered. Company Background:
As mentioned above, Anchor Data Systems originated from the former German based company, Anker which began manufacturing their own branded cash registers around the beginning of the 20th century.
In the years which followed, Anker went on to become on of the most prominent cash register manufacturers throughout Europe and often countered the growing dominance of NCR who are recognised as the company that invented the world’s first cash register.
Anker continued to grow throughout the years and during the 1950’s and 1960’s they entered the rising new market for electronic-based cash registers and accounting equipment. During this time Anker had several branches throughout the UK and Northern Ireland.
As the 1990’s approached Anker began a strategy of restructuring the entire company which included targeting specific areas of growth and expanding their EPOS hardware and software portfolio. Similtaneously a process of reorganisation took place with many regional branches throughout the UK being downsized or closed altogether.
It was during this time that three former employees decided on a course of action to buy-out the existing Anker business previously located at Anker House on York Road, Belfast. Anchor Data Systems (NI) Ltd was officially established during November 1995.
These former employees along with several existing members of staff relocated to the current premises located at the North City Business Centre, just a few miles from the former site.
Only a few of the original Anker team remain with the new company today. They continue to pass on their pearls of wisdom to the newer members of staff as well as many of our customers. During the relocation we managed to hold on to practically all of our previous customer base whilst establishing an expanding clientele through the development of exciting new hardware and software solutions for a variety of hospitality and retail industries.
